Carabiners for Aerial Hammocks and Aerial Yoga
A carabiner is a vital connecting link in every aerial acrobatics and aerial yoga setup. In this category, you will find certified screw-lock and auto-locking carabiners designed for safely rigging aerial silks.
We supply hardware exclusively from trusted mountaineering and climbing equipment manufacturers. Crafted from high-strength steel or lightweight aluminum alloys, these carabiners feature secure locking gates to ensure peace of mind during practice.
Certified Carabiners - The Safety Foundation for Aerial Arts
During training, carabiners support body weight and absorb dynamic shock loads generated by drops, spins, and inversions. Therefore, only carabiners with locking gate mechanisms are used in aerial arts to prevent accidental opening while performing.
Carabiner Gate Types – Screw-Lock vs. Auto-Lock
Depending on your preferences and how often you move your gear, choose the appropriate locking gate mechanism:
- Screw-Lock Carabiners: The classic and most versatile option. The gate is secured by manually screwing a threaded sleeve over the gate. Reliable, durable, and easy to use.
- Auto-Lock Carabiners (Twist-Lock): The gate locks automatically as soon as it springs shut. They provide rapid installation and eliminate the risk of forgetting to manually lock the connector.
How Many Carabiners Do You Need for Your Setup?
Analyze your rigging arrangement using these basic setup rules before ordering:
- Standard Single-Point Hammock or Aerial Silk: Requires 1 carabiner connected to the figure-eight descender or knot.
- Standard Two-Point Hammock: Requires 2 carabiners (one for each ceiling anchor).
- Adding Daisy Chain Adjustment Straps: Each multi-loop strap requires its own carabiner/
- Adding a Swivel: Rigging a swivel requires an additional carabiner. The correct order is: Ceiling Anchor Point > Carabiner > Swivel > Carabiner > Aerial Prop.
Care & Maintenance Guidelines
Always inspect gate operation and smooth surface condition prior to practice. Retire any carabiner showing deep grooves, cracks, or gate stiffness. Store carabiners in a dry place away from sand and corrosive chemicals.
